  2. The Cobweb/Edge of the City is one of the lost jewels of the MGM soundtrack library, although what MGM Records was doing with it bewilders this reviewer -- oh, I know why MGM Records had the album, as both movies were MGM releases, but precisely what a label such as MGM, which was much more comfortable with traditionally melodic musical material, proposed to do with this album, in terms of 9/

  4. The Cobweb, regarded by many as the first twelve-tone score (as the late Mr. Rosenman, among others, took great pains to remind us), is presented here in stereo and includes ALL of the music from the film with an alternate take. The sound is more than adequate. The Edge of the City tracks, in mono, basically duplicate what was on the LP record.5/5(3).

  6. Leonard Rosenman () was an accomplished 20th century American composer with a major career in film and television. 9. Leonard Rosenman had a wonderful film music career, and he had a completely unique voice. I could recognize a Rosenman within a minute. His two James Dean scores are brilliant. Edge of the City is terrific. And The Cobweb is like no other soundtrack of its era, the first twelve-tone film score, which actually suits the film perfectly.5/5(3).
